Honoring Hawai‘i Youth Taking Climate Action!
Join us this Monday, June 24 from 10:00am to 1:00pm to celebrate a groundbreaking agreement resolving the youth-led constitutional climate lawsuit, Navahine v. Hawai‘i Department of Transportation!
Keiki o ka ‘āina (children of the land) in Hawaiʻi turned to the courts to assert their rights to a safe and healthy climate and ask their government to embrace its kuleana (responsibility) as a trustee for future generations by decarbonizing Hawai‘i’s transportation system.
The settlement of Navahine is historic – the first agreement of its kind, in which government defendants have decided to resolve a constitutional climate case in partnership with youth plaintiffs, committing to comprehensive changes and the systemic decarbonization of Hawaiʻi’s transportation system by 2045.
Our Children’s Trust and Earthjustice, who represent the youth plaintiffs, invite you to join our community for a gathering to honor their achievement!
Tune in on Facebook or Instagram to hear live music, and hear from the youth plaintiffs, their attorneys, and experts as they share more about this victory!
ATTEND THE GATHERING VIRTUALLY:
We will broadcast on our social media as well as send out the Livestream link!
